Banks (Kiefer Sutherland) is a hit man, the best, working for Latin American drug cartels. He picks up solitary women, uses them briefly for a job then kills them. He’s headed toward Mexico, when he picks up Bennie (Melora Walters), a woman looking for a new life on her way to Paradise, Arizona. Bennie reluctantly agrees to go along with Banks’ criminal adventure and their unlikely friendship heats up. But the FBI’s Scanlon (Jamey Sheridan) and Marbury (Leslie Stefanson) are in close pursuit. They arrive at the swanky Mexican resort where the hit on the American Drug Czar is to take place. Bennie is really working for the FBI and foils the assassination attempt. She cuffs Banks to the hotel terrace and takes his cash advance for the job. Scanlon arrives to find Bennie heading for the airport. Marbury is in pursuit only to learn that she is disguised as Bennie to throw everybody off the scent. It’s a cat and mouse game and no-one is who they seem. A few days later we see Bennie enjoying a glass of Champagne with Marbury as they toast and congratulate each other for outsmarting the mob, the FBI and Banks. As they laugh we see Banks walking towards them with the macabre detachment we’ve come to know well... the nature of temptation is about to get messy....more
